Designed for a full-time travel nurse working across the country, our latest custom build—“The Night Shift Nomad”—is more than just a van. It is a self-contained, mobile home and adventure basecamp tailored for someone who lives life on the move, often after hours, and needs every ounce of comfort, reliability, and freedom we can pack in.
When we took on this project, we committed to one simple motto: “If there’s a box, check it. No compromises.” – and that philosophy was carried through every detail. This van is LOADED with all the essential features for extended travel, full-time living, and total comfort—whether parked at a hospital in the city or tucked into a remote mountain retreat on your days off. Let’s get into it!
Built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, this van features all of Mercedes’ top-tier safety tech—making it one of the most secure and stress-free rides on the road. Lane assist, collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring, bumper sensors, and adaptive cruise control all come standard on this build. For someone traveling solo and often arriving in unfamiliar cities, having this level of driver support and safety was absolutely non-negotiable.
Exterior: Rugged Meets Refined.
On the exterior, we dialed in durability and style with a rugged front bumper that includes a powerful winch and two LP6 lights from Baja Designs—ready for recovery scenarios or just lighting up the trail ahead.
Up top, a custom roof rack holds five LP9s, also from Baja Designs, which effectively turn night into day. The rack also includes solar panels for off-grid charging, additional rooftop storage, and a Fiamma F45S awning for sunny afternoons or rainy days.
Around back, we installed Owl Van Components’ Sherpa racks, giving our client the ability to mount everything from bikes to extra storage boxes, traction boards, and more—gear ready at a moment’s notice.

KITCHEN:
Inside, we went full motorhome. The kitchen is outfitted with a spacious 7-cubic-foot refrigerator and freezer combo, a sleek induction cooktop, and a convection microwave oven perfectly positioned above the fridge. The deep stainless steel sink features our own custom-designed wood cutting board cover, helping maximize prep space.
Storage is not a problem for this build. With overhead cabinetry, deep drawers, and a custom full pull-out pantry to keep meals, snacks, and road trip essentials organized and within reach.
BATHROOM:
Just behind the driver’s seat, we built a full, enclosed shower—because after a 12-hour shift or a long trail hike, a proper hot rinse isn’t just a luxury, it’s a must.
SLEEPING, SEATING & ALL SEASON COMFORT:
For sleeping, the van comfortably fits four, thanks to a large rear platform bed and a fold-down sofa that also seats three passengers with proper seatbelts. Up front, we included a removable jump seat, bringing the total safe seating capacity to six.
And of course, it’s built for all-season comfort. Dual rooftop air conditioning units keep things cool when the summer heat kicks in, while a diesel furnace and onboard water heater provide year-round warmth and hot showers, no matter the location.
“GARAGE” SPACE:
In the rear of the van, we designed a functional gear garage that fits all the essentials for an active lifestyle: skis, snowboards, surfboards, mountain bikes, camping gear—you name it. This space is optimized for adventure and built to keep things tidy on the road.
Underneath it all, this van rides on custom wheels and all-terrain tires, supported by an upgraded Agile Offroad suspension system that makes highway drives smooth and off-road detours easy. With full-time 4WD and an efficient footprint, this van is as easy to drive through city streets as it is capable on mountain passes.
“The Night Shift Nomad” is the ultimate expression of what a Field Van can be—equal parts home, workplace, and your ride into adventure. It’s a rolling testament to freedom, function, and fearless travel, made especially for someone who’s out there making a difference every day.
