The Feld Family’s S3 Sprinter Build + Meet the Feld Girls

At Field Van, every build tells a story — and sometimes, those stories come from the most unexpected places.

As Field Van President Jonny Feld puts it best at the start of our latest youtube video, “Hey, Jonny from Field Van — as you’ve probably figured out by now, I love adventures. One of my biggest adventures has been raising my two daughters.”

That line sets the tone for one of our favorite Field Van moments yet. Jonny explains that while his daughters don’t have phones or social media, he occasionally lets them borrow his to film their gymnastics tricks or fun little projects. So, you can imagine his surprise when, after returning home from a weekend trip in his personal van, he stumbled upon a video of his daughters giving a full van tour — entirely on their own.

What they captured was more than just a look inside a Mercedes Sprinter 170 with the S3 layout. It was a genuine, heartwarming glimpse at what Field Van represents: family, adventure, and a shared passion for exploring life’s journeys together.

A Peek Inside Jonny’s Personal Build

Jonny’s van is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170, the foundation for our spacious S3 layout. Known for its smooth handling, dependable performance, and extra-long wheelbase, the Sprinter provides an ideal canvas for a comfortable, adventure-ready camper van.

In the S3 layout, every inch is designed to support life on the road — especially for families. Directly behind the driver’s seat sits a full shower compartment with optional toilet, offering convenience and privacy for longer trips. Behind the shower, the galley stretches along the passenger side wall, equipped with a countertop, sink, and optional stove for easy meal prep.

A flip-up counter extension adds extra workspace while revealing hanging clothing storage and a built-in hamper. At the rear, an elevated platform bed with flared-out sides provides additional sleeping length, and the space underneath is wide open for storage — large enough to hold two bikes or all your adventure gear.

Across from the galley is a convertible sofa with three seatbelts that folds into a second bed, big enough for two adults. Whether you’re a family of four or a couple who loves to host guests, the S3 makes it easy to travel comfortably and stay organized.
